Hi! Golly gee I didn't realize it had been such a long time since we'd paid any attention to our traveler's website! Ok everyone, thanks for your patience and I promise to have some new things posted this coming week.

PS Flat Billy Bison, Flat Ivy, Flat Fat Man will be leaving on the Saturday USPS train. AND Flat Justin & Beau came home today from Canada. They took an indirect flight and went through Florida...they said the zip code sent them on a longer route home but they enjoyed seeing a little more of the country that way. Thanks Anna & family!!!! The package is awesome and we'll do a thorough exam of all the goodies Saturday evening. The Christmas ornament is magnificent!

We went on a field trip with Soccer Boy and a group of our local homeschoolers. This is WSAV-TV. Our host let us sit behind the news desk and pretend we were newscasters. The scene behind us is of River Street in Savannah, Georgia.

Timothy, Crystal, Krista & Kitty and our own Emily visit the Globe. This was originally a gas storage tank and it was painted to represent the globe in the 1960's. After Hurricane Hugo (which can be seen on the upper right on the globe) it was given a fresh coat of paint by students from Savannah College of Arts & Design. Their design was painted to represent the way the earth can be seen from space. The side you are seeing in this photo is North, Central and South America.

This is Franklin. Justin found him on our deck when he was the size of a quarter! He is 3 years old now and lives in an aquarium with a light to keep him warm. He is hibernating now and won't be very active until Spring. Flat Soccer boy really likes Franklin!

Our most advanced group add sign language to some of the songs they perform. This performance is for a Fall Festival at First Baptist Church in Pooler, GA. Our mission is to spread the gospel at our performances.

The wildlife preserve has a 4 mile trail that can be driven or hiked. We did a little of both.

We took our flat travelers to see alligators at our local wildlife refuge. Krista held on tight to Kitty. Someone told her that gators like to eat kitties!

UPDATE! Martha was hiding in the sewing lesson box the whole time. She was working on a secret project to take home with her. I'm just wondering who sent the ransom note I found in my car asking for lots of chocolate. I did notice a faint ring of chocolate around Martha's mouth. Hmmmm....could it be? Noooooo!
Martha will be remembered LONG after her return home, as the flat friend who won the game of hide and seek! Martha will stay here until Saturday so that she can go to the Fall Festival at First Baptist Church where our clogging group will be performing.

I got here safely on Monday. I'm playing hide-and-seek, I have heard the Barefoots calling but I'm not giving up and coming out. Tori put me in a safe place and I'm staying put until Mrs. Kat gives up!!! Mrs. Kat said I'm a stinker! Heeeee heee heeee!!! I can't wait for you to see the special stamp I have on my passport....you'll have to wait until I come home to find out.

Dear Abbie,

I'm having a nice time here at Traveler's Rest! I've met a couple of flat friends from other parts of the country too. There's a new kitty here. She's about 6 weeks old and she likes to nibble your fingers. The Barefoots are searching for a home for her. Mrs. Kat says there are WAY too many critters here and since they live so close to the road Kitty would get run over if she stayed outside. We really had fun at the birthday party. Justin's (7) party had a nintendo 64 AND a playstation and we all piled into the room and took turns. Then there were TWO cakes since it was also a party for Brandy (15) and LOTS of singing and laughing....oh and i almost forgot the SILLY STRING! Everyone got covered in it during the silly string fight. One word for the party: L O U D !!!!!

Hello from Georgia!
Just a quick note to say I'm enjoying myself. I have liked seeing the marshes here. They lead right up to the rivers which flow to the sea. It's a scent that you have to get used to though! Savannah isn't much above sea level so when it rains here the streets flood, even with all the new high tech flood controls they've got in place here. We got to see some of it when we went to visit their grandma today. It looks a lot like a small dam and a concrete river. We didn't have the camera so I thought I'd just describe it. There are lots of trees with this grey moss hanging from them, especially the live oak trees. The moss is from the pineapple family. You have to leave it alone mostly though because red bugs (chiggers) live in it and they make you itch something awful. Mrs. Kat said if you get 'em you can put fingernail polish on each one and it kills them. Some of them are hundreds of years old, funny to think they may have been young trees when Gen. Oglethorpe landed there on the Savannah River in 1733. I can't wait for you to see the souvenirs I'm bringing home for you.

Dear Family,
We visited with the Barefoot's grandma today. She lives 17 miles away from them so we rode for about 25 minutes to get there. We rode with the windows down and it was fun. We got to use sidewalk chalk on the back porch. Brandy drew a corvette...that's ALL she talks about right now...getting her learner's permit on Tuesday. Justin is taking us to see the world's largest globe tomorrow! It has Hurricane Hugo painted on it. I'll be leaving on the first flight out by USPS Airways on Wednesday so I'll be home soon. I miss you all.

Hi families!

We decided to write this letter home together. Boy, the wind is blowing so hard we don't DARE go out. We'd be blown all the way to Maine or Massachusetts and since we didn't get permission to go that far, we thought it would be wiser to stay inside and do some handwriting and math sheets with Justin. We will be going to clogging class later today. There's a performance tomorrow at a nursing home and we get to go along to meet everyone.

Lifescout Tim arrived from Illinois on Thursday evening. We were so glad when we picked him up from the Travelport. He said his flight was a little bumpy and he was glad to have his feet on the ground again.

Cassy arrived from West Virginia on Friday afternoon. She lives close to Parkersburg. Mr. Al worked there once and visited the Fenton Glass Factory while he was there. He said it was amazing to watch the workers blow glass. He visited the store while he was there and brought Mrs. Kat a beautiful blown glass basket. Grandma Alleene collects Fenton glass so she got a special gift too!

Hello Family....I'm heading home!

I will be heading home Monday on USPS Airways. The weather has finally turned pretty here so we've been able to spend some time outdoors. Mrs. Kat said that the temperature was in the 90's but it was supposed to get down into the 60's tonight.
